Store Manager

Reports To: Owner

FLSA Status: Exempt, Salaried

Position Summary:

The Store Manager is responsible for maintaining and establishing an environment and culture that follows the Total Beauty Supply mission through store operations. The Store Manager takes ownership of all store level operations through partnership with the company's resources. The Store Manager actively participates in business building along with ensuring profitability through increased sales, marketing strategies and proper staffing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees the daily store operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results
  • Maintains store staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees
  • Partner with Human Resources on employee relations and staffing needs
  • Maintains store staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employee performance; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
  • Achieves financial objectives by implementing and managing store promotions, overseeing operational budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions
  • Identifies current and future customer requirements by establishing rapport with potential and actual customers and other persons in a position to understand service requirements
  • Ensures availability of merchandise and services by approving contracts; maintaining inventories
  • Assesses merchandising activities; determining additional needed sales promotion; authorizing clearance sales; studying trends
  • Markets merchandise by studying advertising, sales promotion, and display plans; analyzing operating and financial statements for profitability ratios
  • Secures merchandise by implementing security systems and measures
  • Protects employees and customers by providing a safe and clean store environment
  • Maintains the stability and reputation of the store by complying with legal requirements
  • Determines marketing strategy changes by reviewing operating and financial statements and departmental sales records
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
  • Maintains operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards and superior customer service
  • Create, organize & retain paperwork
  • Generate and respond to emails
  • Answer & make phone calls to internal and external customers
  • Prepare posts for social media
  • Deposit funds into bank account
  • Generate reports
  • Schedule & conduct weekly staff meetings
  • Run errands to local stores for office supplies and marketing materials
  • Stand-in at retail store, as needed
  • Any other duties as assigned by supervisor

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Minimum three-year retail management experience
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in providing customer service support
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Internet, and social media
  • Ability to operate cash register and handle money
  • Experience managing operations budget and sales revenue goal setting
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required
  • Able to work evenings, weekends and holidays (Except Thanksgiving & Christmas)

Regular internal contact is primarily with the co-workers, other members of the management team, and line management, professional employees and the hourly work force. Primary external contact is with the industry associations, customers, vendors, and various contractors and/or consultants.

Beauty Specialist

Reports To: Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary:

A Beauty Specialist is someone who has knowledge, formal training and experience in the hair, cosmetic and/or skin care industry. The Beauty Specialist's primary focus is to provide enthusiastic personalized customer service, build and maintain customer relationships, and meet sales goals. This role is a sales position within a retail setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist customers with recommending, selecting and locating the products that meet their needs.
  • Suggest, explain and demonstrate how to use products to customers.
  • Operate cash register. Perform register functions such as counting money, separating charge slips, coupons, and vouchers, balancing drawer and making deposits.
  • Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotionsm, policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security practices.
  • Compute sales prices, total purchases, and receive and process cash or credit payment.
  • Watch for and recognize security risks and thefts, and how to prevent or handle these situations.
  • Meet sales goals.
  • Build customer relations through follow-up calls and mailings.
  • Recruit new customers.
  • Order new products and manage inventory.
  • Merchandise products, stock shelves, clean floors, and organize sales areas.
  • Remain current on beauty industry products, techniques, and trends.

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Minimum one year sales experience.
  • Minimum of one year experience in proviing customer service support in a retail environment.
  • Any experience in cosmetology (hair care), esthetics (skin care), cosmetics or specific knowledge with hair maintenance, hair color, wigs, hair extensions, and make-up application in required.
  • Ability to learn extensive knowledge of the products that they sell and proper demonstration techniques. On-the-job training or company training seminars may be provided to train new employees about products and techniques.
  • Ability to operate cash register and handle money.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
